Semiotics, a contemporary theory, is an approach that tries to reveal the deep surface of the text by dividing it into sections. The small details that are not noticed in the general text are revealed by the sectioning method. Semiolotics that evaluates people and events according to their functions, does not depend on the persons and events in the texts; instead it tries to reach some universal conclusions. It divides the contacts person into several groups (sender-recipient, supporter-blocker, subject-object), separates stages the events (textual, narrative and logical level) and thus descending from the surface of the text to the depths. This study, aims to a semiotic reading to one of the most important names of Turkish storytelling poetry (epos) Mehmet Akif Ersoy's “Hasır” poem. The selection of storytelling poetry (epos), a conscious choice because literary semiotics are based on “narrative” and it has an event. Mehmet Akif Ersoy is a poet who sought social benefit, suffered from social problems and tried to send messages with his poems. Through a semiotic approach in the study, the depths of poetry will be reached, the transformation between the beginning and the end of the text will be revealed and the universal message of poetry will be examined.
