Abstract


THE STUDY OF DEVELOPING CONCEPT TEACHING MATERIAL FOR THE “THE TURKS ON THE SILK ROAD” UNIT IN SOCIAL STUDIES
The studies in Turkey in recent years have shown that although students expect more visual materials to be used in social studies classes, teachers use less than expected. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop the concept puzzle samples that can be used in teaching the concepts mentioned in “The Turks on Silk Road” in Grade 6 social studies. In this context, total 3 puzzle sample was developed that formed 30 concept which every single concept was used only in one puzzle. With the help of developed puzzle samples, it is intended to meet the expectations of the students regarding the use of visual materials in social studies. It is also aimed to motivate the social studies teachers who are reluctant to prepare and use materials.
